2006 Digital Cities Convention Taipei

The “2006 Digital Cities Convention Taipei” will conduct three activities to encourage the sharing of experiences and outcomes among international digital cities from June 28th to 30th, 2006.

In addition to a series of topics for discussion, there will be case studies and IT discussions and other activities. The “2006 Digital Cities Convention Taipei” also will demonstrate the infrastructure outcomes of digital cities, which will allow the participants to experience the outcomes with live demonstrations. Also, there will be an awards ceremony recognizing those who contributed their efforts to the Taipei CyberCity Plan. The Taipei City Government will invite mayors to participate in the “International Cities Motion & Closing Statement” to discuss the roadmap for digital cities. We look forward to brainstorming with all the guests and reaching an overall consensus on for digital city development via the sharing of strategies and experiences during the Convention

The “2006 Showcase” – a feast of wireless broadband
“2006 Showcase” booths will be set around the convention, local and overseas governments, community organizations, international institutions and the private sector will jointly demonstrate the outcome of digital cities and technology applications, which will allow the participants to experience the digital beauty of Taiwan cities and international cities. We expect to achieve the following objectives through the Convention and Showcase.

Encourage the sharing of experiences among international digital cities

Demonstrate the outcomes of the digital infrastructure of city governments and community organizations.

Facilitate discussions of decision makers and establish a communication network among countries

Build up an efficient partnership

Create business opportunities for the digital technologies industry and related sponsorship industries

Enhance the global awareness via noted international media


The “2006 Digital Cities Convention Taipei” is a platform for knowledge transmission
The convention will go into an in-depth discussion on two major topics – wireless broadband cities and intelligent governments. Guests will be invited to the keynote speech session and will continue on with further explanations of the various aspects of a digital city.

It covers the below aspects :

Preparing for the challenges in the future.

Strategic planning for problem solving.

Learning from past experiences and setting new plans.

Guiding the community group to propose more innovative “digital city” solutions.

“2006 Digital Cities Convention Taipei” – a group of leaders of intelligent governments

The invited local and overseas city mayors will get together to discuss how to allow the digital infrastructure to continue spreading to every corner of the world and facilitate the popularity of wireless broadband infrastructure of cities before the end of the closing statement.

Share the opinions of the policies of digital city development.

Jointly release “The Announcement of Digital Technology Intelligent Services”

Facilitate the establishment of “The Alliances of Digital Cities Convention Taipei”

Develop strategies for facilitating the popularity of wireless broadband in communities.

“Taipei Cyber City Plan Award” - A group of promoters of digital infrastructure
The “Taipei CyberCity Plan” (1999~2006) is the concept of web space as a replacement for real space. The awards ceremony will be held during a gala dinner to recognize and thank those who contributed their efforts to the Taipei CyberCity Plan (including the geographical system and wireless broadband applications)
Compliment those who contributed their efforts to the Taipei CyberCity Plan
Strengthen the sense of honor and mission of employees.
